LAHORE, June 20: The Pakistan Football Federation’s (PFF) disciplinary committee has refused to deal with case of violation of code of conduct against a former secretary. “The PFF has sent the case of former secretary Arshad Lodhi to the disciplinary committee, alleging he has failed to give satisfactory answer regarding breaching the PFF code of conduct,” a PFF spokesman said in a press statement on Wednesday.

However, the chairman disciplinary committee Aga Liaquat in a letter to the PFF said as the federation had adopted new constitution, it should form new disciplinary committee.

“Under new constitution of the PFF, I am not eligible to continue as chairman of disciplinary committee, therefore, new disciplinary committee should be formed according to the new constitution,” Liaquat wrote to PFF.

The PFF had alleged that Arshad had not only levelled false allegations against PFF’s top official but had also tarnished the image of the federation through press statements. The PFF spokesman added Arshad was given notice on June 7 and his reply received on June 15 at PFF headquarters. But since the reply was not satisfactory it will be reviewed by disciplinary committee.

Arshad said in the press that re-election of PFF president Faisal Saleh Hayat was unconstitutional act. The PFF elections are to be held on July 14, but Faisal had declared himself next president on May 14 since no candidate filed nomination paper against him.

The ex-PFF secretary had argued that since Punjab Football Association (PFA) elections had been challenged in Lahore High Court, the province would not be able participate in PFF elections. He was re-elected as PFA chairman but the court had instructed PFF not to announce the result till final verdict.

Sources said although according to new constitution approved in March, the federation is yet to form new sub- committees.
