LAHORE, June 12: The Cantt CIA claimed on Tuesday to have arrested five members of an inter-district dacoits’ gang and recovered looted property and illegal weapons from them.

These felons were arrested by a team constituted on the direction of DIG (investigation) Tassaduq Husain and led by the Cantt CIA DSP, which collected particulars of Maqsood alias Kundi gang and arrested its five members.

The accused confessed to nine incidents of murder, dacoity and encounters with police in Lahore and Sheikhupura districts.

Those arrested were identified as Maqsood alias Kundi, Safdar Ali, Rafique, Akbar Ali and Nawaz.

The police recovered three cell phones, five wristwatches, one TV set, four pistols and bullets from their possession.

GAMBLERS HELD: A team of the Iqbal Town CIA raided a gambling den and arrested 13 gamblers and seized stake money worth Rs36,540, cell phones and other precious items.

ARRESTED: The CIA police arrested a bootlegger, Abdul Masih, and recovered 136 bottles of liquor from him.

The liquor was recovered from his car during search.

Capital city police officer additional IG Malik Iqbal has announced cash and certificates for the raiding teams.
