PFUJ’s demo against curbs on media

MULTAN, June 6: Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) on Wednesday held a protest demonstration against curbs on media and registration of cases against journalists.

Participants, including a large number of civil society representatives and lawyers, also blocked the Abdali Road. Carrying banners and placards, they also shouted slogans against the government for placing restrictions on media.

Speaking on the occasion, PFUJ secretary-general Rao Shamim Asghar ripped to shreds the government for making amendments to the Pemra Ordinance.

Pakistan Bar Council vice-chairman Mirza Aziz Akbar Baig, HCBA president Habibullah Shakir, secretary-general Rana Naveed Ahmed, DBA president Akram Bhatti and Mumtaz Noor Tangra also spoke.
