One killed, five kidnapped over family dispute

By Qurban Ali Khushik

DADU, May 21: Armed men kidnapped five people and killed one person over a family dispute in Pehanja Ghar village, Mehar taluka, on Monday. The men attacked the house of Ghulam Nabi Gaincho and shot dead a guest Sajjad Shah, son of Sher Mohammad Shah. They then kidnapped Ghulam Nabi, his wife Hidayat Khatoon and three daughters, Rashida (12), Irshad (9), and Khurshida (3).

After the incident, villagers placed the dead body of Sajjad Shah in the middle of the Faridabad-Mehar road and staged a demonstration that led to suspension of traffic. The villagers said that if the kidnapped persons were not recovered and the killers not arrested, then they would continue their protest.

Later, TPO Mehar persuaded the demonstrators to end the protest after giving them assurances. However, no case was registered at the Faridabad police station till the filing of this report.
