Nosheen grabs feature event in style

By Aftab Gilani

LAHORE, May 20: Fancied bay filly Nosheen put up a high calibre performance to land the feature event gone over 1000 metres during day/night Lahore Summer Meetings at the Racecourse on Sunday.

Taking a flying start as usual, Nosheen led all the way home to beat Dil Vil by one and a half lengths. Zanjeer and Noor completed the frame among eight starters.

Favourite bay colt Charismatic, who had a very long bad spell, touched form and won the supporting and fifth race. With the jockey A. Imran aboard, Charismatic was lying close third in the early part of the race but shot into the lead in the last 200 metres to win from Great Murad by about four lengths.

Three-year-old bay filly Born To Win produced a breathtaking performance when he managed to beat bay filly Janu by a head 's margin in the third race to give jockey Shahid Rehman his first victory.

Born To Win flying the colours of Malik Ghulam Qadir chased the front-running Janu in the earlier part of the race and pipped her on the finishing post to pick up the spoils. At one stage it looked Janu had almost won the race but Shahid Rehman galvanized the pace of his mount and succeeded to win by the short margin. This was the third race of the day.

A race later, Sohrab Khan's bay filly, Mythical, ridden by Shahid Rehman had an easy victory to give him a double. Mythical beat Don't Follow by three lengths after he trailed for nearly 800 metres.Willhewish finished, a far away third.

Chestnut colt Munsaf was the stylish winner of the day in the second race. Running in the middle of the track he beat Mubashara by one-and-a-half lengths easily.
