Task force for solving quake survivors’ problems

By Our Correspondent

MANSEHRA, May 12: Chief of Earthquake Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Authority Saleem Altaf has constituted a task force for resolving problems faced by people of the quake-hit city Balakot.

MPA from Balakot Mazhar Qasim Shah, who recently met the Erra chairman in Islamabad, told journalists here on Saturday that the task force would soon come to Balakot to learn about the problems of quake survivors.

He said the Erra chairman had assured him that the problems faced by the people of the Balakot tehsil would be resolved in the light of the task force’s report.

He said Erra was making efforts to build 4,000 prefabricated houses pledged by the Saudi government for the people of Balakot and Garlat union councils. He said the Erra chairman had also assured him that major changes would be made in Erra’s building code to make rebuilding of damaged houses easier and cheaper.
