KARACHI, May 7: Normal shipping activity was witnessed at the port where two ships to load, unload containers and chemicals were allotted berths at QICT and EVT, respectively, during the last 24 hours, says a PQA press release.

Meanwhile, five more ships with containers, chemicals, furnace oil and diesel oil arrived at the outer anchorage during the same period.

Berth occupancy remained at 90 per cent at the port where nine ships currently occupied berths to load, unload containers, rice, edible oil, canola seeds, furnace oil, chemicals and iron ore, respectively, during the report period.

The port handled a record cargo volume of 0.122 million tons comprising of 0.100 million tons imports land 0.022 million tons exports inclusive of containerised cargo carried in 3,140 Teus during the period under review.

Two container ships and an oil tanker sailed during the last 24 hours.
