ISLAMABAD, May 5: The Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources, Amanullah Khan Jadoon, called on Kuwaiti minister for energy Shaikh A.H. Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and discussed ways and means to promote oil and gas cooperation.

During the meeting, both sides agreed that there exists a lot of potential for expanding existing level of cooperation between the two countries in diversified fields, particularly the oil and gas for their mutual advantage, said a press release issued here on Saturday.

Jadoon briefed his Kuwaiti counterpart about steps being taken by Pakistan government for promoting energy sector on modern lines and efforts for exploring the untapped hydrocarbon deposit sedimentary area of 6,27.000 square km.

He explained the salient features of incentives being offered by the government to the prospective investors in the upstream and downstream petroleum sectors.

He said the government was improving these incentives in the new petroleum policy to be announced shortly.

Jadoon also informed the Kuwaiti minister about the upcoming petroleum projects which include trans-national gas pipeline, LNG, gas storages, oil refineries and terminals and invited Kuwaiti companies to take benefit from these opportunities. —APP
