KARACHI, March 20: Prof Sirajul Islam Bukhari, Secretary of the Karachi City Cricket Association (KCCA), has offered his heartfelt condolences on behalf of KCCA on the sudden demise of Pakistan cricket team coach Bob Woolmer.
Bukhari, paying glowing tributes to late Bob Woolmer, appreciated his services for the game. He also lauded the decision of Dr Nasim Ashraf to accept the responsibility of Pakistan’s shameful World Cup show.
Bukhari appealed to President Musharraf, the Patron of Pakistan Cricket Board, to allow the affiliated cricket associations of the PCB to elect a new chairman of the board. Referring to ad-hocism prevalent in the PCB, Bukhari said: “On July 17, 1999 the General Body and the Council was dissolved and Ad hoc Committee was formed by ex-president Rafiq Tarar while the PCB Constitution was not abrogated.”
He proposed that only slight amendments may be made in the existing Constitution of PCB by the General Body and the affairs of Pakistan cricket may then be run by a regularly appointed or elected chairman.—Agencies
