IPU informed of intimidation

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, March 12: The People's Party Parliamentarians (PPP) has sent a letter to Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), informing it of the alleged intimidation of PPP workers and parliamentarians in Karachi by workers of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), a coalition partner of the government.

The Central Coordinator Human Rights Desk of the PPP, MNA Fauzia Wahab, has written the letter to IPU Secretary-General Anders B. Johnson, informing him about the incidents in which MQM activists were accused of targeting PPP workers and leaders during the Feb 10 by-election.

The MQM has denied the charges levelled by the PPP and said the party would also write a letter to the IPU to inform it of the "factual position."
