KARACHI: Women’s park planned near Kakri Ground

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, March 12: A women’s park will be constructed in the vicinity of Mohammad Ali Johar Park previously known as Kakri Ground in Lyari Town. The proposal approved by the Lyari Town Council a couple months ago was moved by the Baghdadi Union Council (UC-5). The UC-5 Nazim, Fazal-ur-Rehman, said the park would be built on a portion of the town’s nursery which will be separated by raising a wall.

The nazim said the park would be exclusively for women. Work on constructing a culvert on a drain passing along the park will start soon and tenders have been invited.

The Lyari Town municipal administration departmental heads meeting reviewed progress of work on the park. The meeting discussed various issues pertaining to the town. It noted with concern that recovery of taxes in the town was declining and stressed the need for effective measures to improve recovery.

The issue of employees negligence to duties was also discussed. The meeting decided to deduct the salaries of employees who were not punctual or irregular.

The next meeting will be held on March 19.
