KARACHI: Lyari to see peace, assures adviser


KARACHI, March 8: Sindh Home Adviser Waseem Akhtar has said that the government will restore peace in Lyari at any cost and anti-social elements will not be allowed to take the law into their hands.

He was speaking at a function on Wednesday night in Khadda area where he performed the opening ceremony of the office of Fishermen Karachian, an NGO working for the welfare of fisherfolk.

He said the law enforcement agencies had enforced the government’s writ when the locality was affected by gang wars recently. He assured the people lawlessness that had re-emerged in the locality would be stamped out. He urged the people to cooperate with the government.

Regarding civic problems, Mr Akhtar said the government was giving top priority to resolving water and sewerage problems.

Earlier, President Fishermen Karachian, Mr Abuzar Mariwara, who is a former vice-chairman of Fishermen Cooperative Society spoke about problems faced by the people.—Staff Reporter
