KARACHI: Sculpture removed for parking: DHA

KARACHI, Feb 28: The Defence Housing Authority on Wednesday said one of the 13 sculptures created by Anjum Ayaz and placed at Seaview had been removed by the authority’s officials to make a parking space.

A spokesman for the DHA said, “our officials have removed that sculpture and will place it at another prominent place soon.”

He said the DHA would also contact Anjum Ayaz soon to seek his advice about treatment should be administered to the sculptures that are rusting due to the environment. He said three of the sculptures that disappeared lost their grip because of rust and some visitors to the beach stole some of the pieces. “We have saved some of the parts and will request Anjum to do something about their revival,” he said.—Staff Reporter
