BAHAWALPUR, Feb 20: Several suspended workers of the Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) staged a sit-in and demonstrated on the TMA premises here on Tuesday.

Protesting employees said the TMA had sacked 25 sanitation workers despite they had been serving for nine years.

During the protest, they raised slogans against their removal from service and demanded an immediate reinstatement.

Tehsil Nazim Malik Zahid Mahmood Channar was not present in his office during the protest. Fresh appointments have been made in the TMA, but no one was appointed in the sanitation section which may deteriorate sanitation in several union councils of the tehsil.

PASSING OUT: The passing-out parade of 490 police recruits from Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan was held at police recruit training centre here on Tuesday.
