KARACHI: Revival of old pension system urged

KARACHI, Feb 20: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) opposing the new system for payment of pension has demanded revival of the old system.

In a joint statement issued here, MMA MNAs Mohammad Hussain Mehnati and Laeeq Khan said in past pensioners had to fill up only one form and submit it for obtaining monthly pension, and payment was made to them on the same day.

The MMA leaders said now they had to fill up three different forms. They said, old pensioners including women had to stand in queues for hours and had to visit banks more than once to get their pensions.

They demanded the three forms should be reduced to one as in the previous system and pension should also be paid through private banks to facilitate pensioners. The MMA leaders also demanded that other issues being faced by the pensioners in the province should also be addressed.—PPI
