COLOMBO, Feb 20: The Sri Lankan foreign ministry on Tuesday condemned the attack on the Lahore-bound Samjhauta Express that killed 68 people, calling it an “abominable act of terrorism” that should be condemned by all positive-thinking people.

A ministry statement said the fact that the Samjhuata Express was essentially a ‘peace’ train, deserved the condemnation.

It urged the international community to deal with what it called an “affront to civilisation”.

“Terrorism is a scourge that affects many nations and the international community must deal with this affront to civilization resolutely,” the release said.“As a fellow South Asian nation that continues to be affected by similar acts of terror, Sri Lanka firmly takes its place with the governments and people of India and Pakistan,” the ministry said.
