By Our Staff Reporter

RAWALPINDI, Feb 12: Three persons, including a woman, died of suffocation while a five-year-old girl was killed and her father injured when the roof of their house caved in due to rain in Banni area on Monday.

Police said a couple and their relative were suffocated due to gas leakage in their house in Liaquat Colony, Chakri Road, on Monday.

Aqil Khan, his wife Nafeesa Begum and their relative, Zahid Khan, went to bed on Sunday night after leaving the gas heater on. On Monday, when the daughter of Aqil Khan woke up and found her parents still in their beds, she called the neighbours who found the room filled with gas and the three people unconscious. Later, they were pronounced dead by the doctors.

In another incident, a five-year-old girl was killed and her father injured when the roof of their house collapsed in Banni area due to rain.

Mohammad Sarwar and his daughter Neelam were trapped in the debris. On hearing their hue and cry, a large number of people from the surrounding area rushed to their rescue and pulled them out. They were shifted to DHQ hospital where the girl died.

Meanwhile, a 40-year-old woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances in her house in Chah Sultan (Waris Khan police area) on Monday, police said. The victim identified by the police as Rehana Bibi, wife of Haleem Ahmed, was found dead in her house after her children returned from school.

Police said when the children returned and rang the doorbell, they got no response. They called their neighbours who telephoned Rehana’s husband and informed him that his wife was not opening the door.

After Rehana’s husband reached home, the door was opened and the woman was found lying on the floor. The body was shifted to the hospital for postmortem to ascertain the cause of death. Police also found body parts of some animal lying near the dead woman.
