KARACHI: Poor sanitation adds to public miseries

KARACHI, Feb 10: Rainwater has accumulated on some portions of roads in Lyari, Soldier Bazaar, Arambagh, Empress Market, Bolton Market, Saddar and Banaras Chowk created problems for the pedestrians and motorists.

In Al-Fateh Colony of Orangi Town, leakages from waterline had submerged a link road.

Residents of Soldier Bazaar area said the poor sanitation caused rain water to accumulate. Pointing out that the drain had not been cleaned for the last many years, the residents said that even light showers could play havoc with the locality.

The poor sewerage system has been an issue in old city areas and needs serious steps for its overhaul.—A Reporter
