Refund claims

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Feb 7: The Central Board of Revenue (CBR) has assured exporters of getting payment against their sales tax refund claims for the post zero-rated period within a week.

The CBR has put in place a simplified risk-based software which will take only 10 to 15 minutes for settling down any refund claims.

This was disclosed by Collector Sales Tax and Federal Excise (Enforcement) Shafqat Mahmood in a meeting with Towel Manufacturers’ Association of Pakistan (TMA) held recently.

He assured the TMA members that no procedural delays or objections would be raised for clearing sales tax refund claims and added that the software did not provide any discretion to the staff thus it would bring complains from exporters to an end.

The collector also informed them that a workshop would be held to educate the refund claimants for the new simplified refund procedure and e-filing.
