By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Feb 6: Seven government primary and secondary schools are located in a single boundary wall in Omar Lane, UC-9 of Lyari Town.

During a recent visit to the locality, Lyari Town Nazim Malik Muhammad Fayyaz was surprised to see that six government primary schools and one secondary Sindhi medium school were functioning in a signal boundary wall while a new secondary school was also being established in the premises.

The town nazim found that substandard material was being used in the construction and directed the EDO education to prepare a report so that action could be taken against the concerned contractor. He stressed the need for convening an urgent meeting of all concerned departments in this regard.

A recent survey conducted by the Strengthening Participatory Organization Karachi showed that there were several instances where more than one government schools were established in the same compound. Besides, the report stated that there were more government schools in Lyari as compared to private sector. However, the ratio of students in private schools is higher than government schools.
