By M.H. Khan

HYDERABAD, Jan 22: A woman councillor of UC-6, Latifabad, belonging to MQM-backed Haq Parast Group, received 35 per cent burn, after a man threw acid on her as she opened the door in Block-C of Latifabad-10 on Monday. Aqeela Gulnaz, wife of Pervez Akhtar, screamed in pain and by the time her family members reached her, the attacker had fled.

She was immediately taken to the Civil Hospital’s burns ward and, according to hospital’s Medical Superintendent Dr Khalid Qureshi, the councillor had received 35 per cent burns. She was being shifted to Karachi in view of her critical condition, he said.
