JACOBABAD, Jan 21: Amir of Jamat-i-Islami, Sindh, and a senior leader of MMA Maulana Asadullah Bhutto said here on Sunday that the opposition parties, including PPP and PML-N, have reached an accord to oppose re-election of General Pervez Musharraf through the present assemblies.

He said that opposition parties had agreed on a one-point agenda i.e. to remove General Pervez Musharraf and to resist his re-election from the current assemblies as president for a new term.

He said General Musharraf’s dream to become president for the third term would never materialise.

The MMA leader said that it was a good omen that MMA and

ARD along with the other opposition parties, were unanimously considering to resign from the assemblies adding that after unity among opposition ranks, the alliance of ruling elite has lost understanding, resulting into differences between Arbab Ghulam Rahim, MQM and Chaudhry Shujaat and Zafarullah Jamali.

Terming the seven year rule of General Musharraf a total failure in solving basic problems and difficulties of the people, he said that Pervez government never ran according to the wishes of people but always obeyed his American masters.

He said that handing over of Shahbaz Airbase, Jacobabad, to

American and Nato forces, on permanent basis showed that General Musharraf would allow them to use it in case of war against Iran.

He said the Sindh government had miserably failed to represent the people of the province and condemned handing over of the two islands of Sindh to a UAE-based firm.

He said the lands given on lease to railways the and other federal departments were property of Sindh and no one would be allowed to usurp it.

He ruled out any differences among the component parties of MMA and said that only different opinions of two parties, which is common in democratic forums, would soon be resolved in the meeting of supreme council.
