KARACHI, Jan 21: Four people, including a 19-year-old girl, were murdered on Sunday in parts of the city.

The teenage girl, Asiya, daughter of Zahoor Ali, was killed in Al-Falah by her younger brother.

The elderly mother of the girl told police that her 18-year-old son, Sharafat Ali, got up late in the morning. She said that after lunch, he took his sister to a room and bolted the door from inside at around 1.30pm.

The victim’s mother, a widow, said she heard her daughter crying for help and later blood started flowing from the room through the door. She sought neighbours help to break open the door and found her daughter in a pool of blood. Sharafat Ali fled the scene through the backdoor of the room.

Asiya was working at a garment factory and her brother was jobless for the past couple of the weeks.

The motive behind the murder could not be ascertained and the police registered a case against Sharafat Ali.

The police said the murder appeared to be premeditated as the knife found at the scene was brand new.

The victim was living with her mother, two younger sisters, one of them married, and the suspect in a rented house (R-60), in Gulistan-i-Naaz. Her two elder brothers, both married, were living with their families in Punjab.

Jackson police registered the case against three brothers, who were untraceable after the incident. Efforts were being made to track them down, the police said.

In another firing incident, a 55-year-old man was killed in Sohrab Goth.

Police said victim Haji Raiza Gul had come from Kohat to attend the weddings of his relatives. They said suspects Salim, Eesa and Moosa came to attend the wedding function without invitation. The suspects started aerial firing during the function and they shot dead one of the guests when they were asked to stop the firing.
