Enforcement of loan waiver order demanded

QUETTA, Jan 20: The Balochistan Zamindar Action Committee has called upon the government to enforce President Pervez Musharraf’s remission of six billion rupee agriculture loans.

In a statement issued here on Saturday, the farmers rejected fresh formula of the provincial government to the Quetta Electric Supply Company that 1.2 billion rupees subsidy pertaining to non-supply of maximum electricity to growers by Qesco should be refunded to it.

The BZAC said that Rs1.2 billion dues of the provincial government against Qesco should be adjusted in recovery of outstanding arrears against zamindars adding that loadshedding and low voltage of electricity caused losses of billions of rupees to farmers.—Correspondent
