Kashmiris should be involved in peace process:APHC ISLAMABAD, Jan 20 (APP) The Chairman of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), Mirwaiz Omer Farooq, on Saturday said that the tripartite dialogue involving Pakistan, India and the people of Kashmir is vital to find a durable solution to the long-running dispute. Addressing a joint news conference with AJK President, Raja Zulqarnain Haider, he said the “Kashmiri people cannot be ignored in any dialogue process aimed at resolving the issue.” The Hurriyat leader said it is clear that there could no military solution and the only feasible way for durable peace in the region is to bolster the peace process. In reply to a question, he said the mujahideen groups should support the dialogue process. (Posted @ 19:02 PST) Revenue collection increased by 27%: PM Aziz KARACHI, Jan 20 (APP) Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Saturday said that there had been a 27 percent increase in revenue collection in the first six months of the current financial year, compared to figures for the corresponding period in the previous fiscal year. Speaking at a convocation ceremony at the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Karachi, the prime minister said that in the first six months of the current fiscal year, a total revenue of Rs 410 billion was collected. He attributed the growth to a reduced tax rate, buoyancy in the economy and simplification of procedures. He said the 2007 graduating class of IBA represented the future of the tax regime in Pakistan. Aziz also assured that the government would continue to invest in business education as well as in higher education. The president during his two-day stay will meet King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz to discuss bilateral matters, regional and international issues, including the prevailing situation in the Middle East including Palestine, Iraq, Lebanon and Afghanistan. Three people died and 15 more were wounded when mortar shells hit the Al-Sulekh area of Baghdad's Adhamiyah district. Also in Baghdad, gunmen killed a civilian and wounded two others in the southern Yarmuk district. In another attack, an Iraqi army colonel was killed by a bomb in the main northern city of Mosul that also wounded two soldiers. A civilian was shot dead also in Mosul. South of Baghdad, gunmen burst into a house in Madaen town and killed two women and a man before escaping. The Taliban response also rubbished statements by the spokesman, known to the media as Doctor Mohammad Hanif, that it was being aided by the Pakistan intelligence agency ISI and had training camps in that country. It also denied the leaders of the Taliban had ordered the killing of Mullah Dadullah, the movement's top commander in southern Afghanistan. “It is clear that he (Haqiq) has been interrogated under pressure or things have been added to what he has said,” the statement said. An Indonesian official put the quake's strength at 6.2 on the Richter scale. The quake’s depth was 170 km below sea level and it was 320 km southeast of Ambon, the major city in the Moluccas, 2,300 km east of Jakarta.
