KARACHI, Jan 19: Brisk shipping activity was witnessed at the port where seven ships to load, unload containers, edible oil, chemicals, diesel oil, and iron ore were allotted berths at QICT, MPL, Fotco oil terminal and Engro Vopak terminal, respectively, during the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile two more ships with containers and chemicals arrived at the outer anchorage during the report period, says a PQA press release.

Berth occupancy remained high at 90 per cent as a total of eleven ships were occupying berths to load, unload containers, rice, edible oil, diesel oil, chemicals, and iron ore, respectively, during the same period.

The port handled a cargo volume of 87,133 tons comprising 82,083 tons imports and 5,050 tons of exports inclusive of containerised cargo carried in 945 containers (Teus).

Two ships were expected to sail out while three ships will take berths at QICT and Engro terminal.
