ISLAMABAD, Jan 10: The CBR on Wednesday notified the territorial jurisdiction of the three regional tax offices (RTOs) established in Peshawar, Abbottabad and Rawalpindi. The jurisdiction areas to fall under these RTOs were announced through a sales tax notification SRO 29 of 2007 issued here by making these RTOs effective, retrospectively, from January 1, 2007.

Through the notifications the CBR also announced appointment of the director-generals, collectors, cost accountants, deputy collectors, assistant collectors, superintendents, senior auditors, deputy superintendents, auditors and inspectors of sales tax and federal excise.

The RTO, Rawalpindi will cover the areas included in the former Civil Division of Rawalpindi, the Islamabad Capital Territory and the Northern Areas.

The areas comprising the North-West Frontier Province (excluding the former Civil Division of Hazara), as well as the Provincially Administered Tribal Areas thereof and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas would come under the jurisdiction of RTO Peshawar.

The RTO, Abbottabad would include the areas comprising former Civil Division of Hazara-- Abbottabad, Haripur, Mansehra, Battagram and Kohistan districts.

Through another sales tax notification SRO 28 of the 2007, the CBR has abolished the post of the collectors of sales tax Peshawar and Rawalpindi by amending the SRO 1160 of the year 1996.
