LAHORE, Jan 7: Fine batting by discarded Test opener Salman Butt helped Lahore Shalimar give good response to Faisalabad on the second day of the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Gold League fixture at the Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday.
Salman scored 98 as Lahore Shalimar reached 240 for nine in reply to Faisalabad’s first innings total of 257. Former Test slow left-armer Mohammad Hussain (30) and Mohammad Khalil (1) were at the crease at stumps.
The left-handed Salman cracked 14 fours during a stay of 207 minutes before fell victim to off-spinner Saeed Ajmal, who finished with three for 80.
Earlier, Faisalabad added just one run to overnight total of 256-9 before top-scorer Ali Raza (56, eight fours, one six) became medium-pacer Junaid Zia’s five wicket of the innings. The ex-international paceman conceded 37 runs
