KARACHI: Qazi’s call for protest endorsed

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Jan 7: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal’s Karachi chapter has endorsed MMA chief Qazi Hussain Ahmed’s call for observing a protest day on Monday against the holding of by-election in Bajaur Agency for the seat vacated by MNA Sahibzada Haroon-ul-Rashid of Jamaat-i-Islami.

The MNA had resigned in protest against the killing of a large number of people in the bombing of a seminary and a mosque in the area.

The MMA Karachi has planned rallies to be held in different parts of the city. The main rally would be held at Banaras Chowk at 5 pm, said a press release.

Meanwhile, MNA Mohammad Hussain Mehanti and MPAs Nasrullah Khan Shaji and Yunus Barai of MMA have expressed their deep concern over the government’s indifferent attitude towards the soaring prices and people’s constant demand from immediate relief, saying that no benefit of the reduction in oil prices in the world market for four times had been made to trickle down to the poor masses of this country.

Instead, they deplored, the cabinet comprising more than 100 ministers and advisers had endorsed increase in prices of milk and LPG, etc.

Referring to the rampant incidents of lawlessness in Karachi, they asked the government to quit immediately for failing to protect the life and property of people.
