BAGHDAD, Jan 4: A car bomb killed at least 13 people and wounded 22 near a gas station in western Baghdad’s upscale Mansour district on Thursday, security officials said. The explosion took place at around 10:30am (0730 GMT) in the mainly Sunni district, a defence ministry official said. A medic at Baghdad’s Yarmuk hospital had earlier confirmed admitting those wounded in the blast. Insurgents regularly carry out car bombings in Baghdad, which is engulfed in a bitter Shia and Sunni sectarian conflict that has left thousands dead on the streets of the Iraqi capital.—AFP
