Eid celebrated in parts of NWFP, Balochistan

By Our Correspondent

QUETTA/PESHAWAR, Dec 31: Eidul Azha was celebrated in parts of Balochistan and the NWFP on Sunday. The residents of Balochistan’s border town of Chaman and Qila Abdullah district marked the festival of sacrifice in line with the announcement of Maulana Abdul Ghani, a top leader of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (Fazal).

Thousands of faithful offered Eid prayers at eidgahs, mosques and open places in Chaman and various areas of district Qila Abdullah including Gulistan and Shela Bagh. However, Eid will be officially celebrated in Quetta and other parts of the province on Monday as per the decision of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, headed by Mufti Munibur Rahman.

Online adds: Eidul Azha was celebrated in various areas of the NWFP, including Peshawar, on Sunday as well.

In Peshawar, Eid congregations were held at Eidgah, Jamia Masjid Qasim Ali Khan, Ganj Ali Khan, Masjid Zarghoni, Jamia Masjid Darwaish, Madni Masjid and Hayatabad.

Some parts of the NWFP had already celebrated Eid on Saturday while many other parts will mark the festival on Monday along with the rest of the country in line with the decision of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.

Thus this time again, the NWFP is all set to witness a hat-trick of Eids.

A large number of people expressed their disappointment over the split, saying that it had now become a regular practice.
