RAWALPINDI, Dec 30: Three-time national champions Pakistan Army grabbed a vital point when they drew against the Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) 0-0 in a Pakistan Premier Football League match at the KRL Stadium here on Saturday.

Army's goal-keeper Jaffar Khan once again showed his ability under the bar and kept the KRL's star players away from scoring. Jaffar, now, has not conceded a single goal in his last 13 successive matches.

Meanwhile, the KESC once gain showed their fine display in the Karachi Phase of the League when they drew 1-1 with Pakistan Navy at Karachi's Naval Sports Complex Ground, Karsaz.

Under Babar Mahmood's captaincy, the Army foiled all the KRL attempts and thus the precious point extended their tally to 36 in 14 encounters, followed by the KRL (30 points).

Pakistan Navy opened the scoring in a whirlwind manner when striker Nasir Hussain hit the back of the net. He fired the ball into the net in the 95th second, becoming the quickest goal scorer of the event, beating Shakir Lashari (KESC) 115th-second goal record against the NBP on December 12, 2006 at the Peoples Stadium, Karachi.

The KESC, having international Aurangzeb, Abdul Ghafoor, Shakir Lashari and Akber Ali, managed to hit back in the 34th minute when winger Moosa raised high on a looping cross, netting the ball. The 1-1 scoreline at the interval remained unchanged till the end of the second session.

In the League, leaders Army and second-placed KRL are followed by Wapda who are at the third spot with 29 points while the NBP (21 points) are fourth. Other teams from fifth to 11th positions are: KESC (18), KPT (17), Navy (12), Railways (9), Wohaib FC (8), HBL (7) and Afghan FC (3).—APP
