Young girl commits suicide

RAWALPINDI, Dec 30: A daughter of an armyman committed suicide by shooting herself in Sadiqabad while an 18-year-old boy attempted suicide by setting himself on fire in Saddar Barooni area on Saturday.

In the first incident, Fakhira Bibi, 18, shot herself dead with her father’s pistol after watching her mother scold her brother, the investigating officer said.

In another incident, Mohammad Murtaza attempted suicide by setting himself on fire in his house in Saddar Barooni police area.

The victim’s father told the police that he was not aware of the reason which led his son to immolate himself. Murtaza was shifted to the DHQ hospital with 80 per cent burns and was unable to record his statement.

ROBBERIES: Three robberies were committed in different parts of the city in which one person was shot and injured and cash and valuables were looted.

In the first incident, Bakht Mohammad, a cloth merchant, was shot and injured by a gang of four robbers who forcibly entered his house in Ganjmandi area and looted Rs8,000 cash and two cell phones.

Similarly, four robbers barged into a jewellery shop at Dhamial Road and held its owner, Mohammad Aslam, at gunpoint on Saturday. They then escaped with jewellery and cash.

In the third incident, a gang of four robbers entered a stationery shop in Sadiqabad and robbed the owner of Rs17,000 and a cell phone.
