SCBA election results notified

ISLAMABAD, Dec 21: The Pakistan Bar Council on Thursday officially notified the results of the re-polling to elect the 22-member Supreme Court Bar Association. The PBC had announced the re-polling on Dec 18 to end the bickering between two groups of lawyers.

Muneer A. Malik was declared president of the association.

Syed Qalb-i-Hassan, chairman of the PBC’s executive committee, as returning officer and senior advocates Gul Zarin Kiani and Zafar Abbas Zaidi as members of the election committee conducted the counting proceedings.

According to the results, Zulfiqar Ali Bokhari Syed was elected secretary, Sardar Mohammad Ghazi additional secretary and Tariq Bilal the finance secretary.

Imranul Haq Khan was elected vice-president from Balochistan, Saeed Akhtar Khan from the NWFP, Anwar Hamid Sahibzada from Punjab and Khawaja Naveed Ahmad from Sindh.

From Balochistan, members of the executive committee are Jehanzeb Khan Jadoon, Mohammad Pervez Khanb Tanoli and Abdullah Kakar.

From the NWFP, members of the executive committee are Mussarat Hilali and Mohammad Arif Khan.

Qamar Zaman Quershi, Farman Ali Sabir Rana, Amanat Ali Bokhari, Khawaja Tariq Sohail, Mian Yousuf Umar and Mohammad Rafi Siddiqui were elected members of the executive committee from Punjab.

Rizwan Ahmad Siddiqui, Syed Jamil Ahmad and Shamsuddin Khalid Ahmad Ansari were elected members of the committee from Sindh.
