LAHORE, Dec 20: Punters and turf accountants shared proceedings equally when two well-backed favourites and a joint favourite won in a card of five races during the midweek Lahore Gymkhana races at the Racecourse on Wednesday.

The favourite backers started the day when an 80 to 100 favourite, roan gelding Billoo The Great romped home in the opener. He beat Malang Aya by over four lengths.

Four-year-old joint favourite filly, Daisy Against All won the second race defeating favourite Murad King by over five lengths.

Then three to one chance, bay gelding, Major Rana came from behind with a fine burst of speed to dislodge front-runner, the favourite colt Rough Tough and win by over five lengths.

Then Aaja Bulbul won the feature event, a class V division I handicap race. Aaja Bulbul, backed by connections at four to one beat Babbu The Great by a big margin of over eight lengths.

The favourite Moon Dazzler put up a bad show and finished third, another over a length behind. Jago completed the frame among ten runners.

The concluding and fifth race was won by a 60 to 100 favourite bay mare Mosaic. The Lahore Race Club Riding School used seven horses in the race to train youngsters. It turned out to be an interesting one with all horses equally backed.

Mosaic won it defeating Gypsy by a street's margin.

Jockey Shahid Mustafa highlighted the day's racing bringing home two winners, both available at attractive odds.

The next Lahore Winter Meeting races will be held on Sunday.
