Sub-inspector arrested

SAHIWAL, Dec 20: Yousafwala police have arrested a court absconder sub-inspector who was convicted by a court for torturing to death a citizen. According to police, SI Rana Baqir Ali and constables Ashiq and Saeed Ahmad had tortured to death Imtiaz.

The additional district and sessions judge had sentenced them to life imprisonment on June 17.

Constable Saeed Ahmad was arrested soon after the court’s verdict while SI Baqir and constable Ashiq had escaped with handcuffs.

TWO SHOT DEAD: Two persons were gunned down over an old enmity near Chak 54/4-R here on Wednesday.

Allah Rakha and his son-in-law, Sajjad, were going to Chak 64/4-R on a motorcycle when they were shot at by Rifaqat, Irshad and Ali Ahmad. Both of them sustained serious injuries and died while being taken to hospital. — Correspondent
