KARACHI: Inter-provincial gang of carjackers smashed

KARACHI, Dec 20: The staff of the Anti Car Lifting Cell on Wednesday busted a nine member inter-provincial gang of car snatchers. The police seized stolen vehicles besides two TT pistols.

An ACLC spokesman said 14 cars, two motorcycles, three CNG kits, 10 registration books, three vehicle registration plates were recovered from the gang.

The spokesman said initially two members of the gang were arrested from Sohrab Goth who provided information about the other members of their gang which led to the arrests.

The arrested men were Abid Ali, Muhammad Arif, Abdul Wahid, Mashooq Ali, Ameerullah Baig, Javed Akram, Mashooq Ahmed Chandio, Azhar Ahmed Jatoi and Abdul Jabbar Bhatti.The suspects had snatched vehicles from Saddar, Clifton, Defence, North Nazimabad.

After tampering with their chassis numbers they used to dispose off the vehicles in Balochistan, the statement held.

The registration numbers of the recovered of the vehicle are (ADH-773), (Z-1007), (AHB-305), (PL-7073), (AKZ-843), (ADP-961), (Z-2656), (AKR-571), (AAJ-186), (LRD-8780), (ADF-015), (AAP-429), (F-3452).

ACCIDENT: A 24-year-old man, Mohammad Anwer, was knocked down by a speeding bus in North Karachi on Wednesday. Police said the man was riding a motorcycle when he was hit by the bus.

They said that Anwar was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
