KARACHI, Dec 20: The office bearers of Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan (Noorani) have expressed concern at deterioration of law and order in the country and increase in incidents of crime.
The meeting was presided over by its President, Allama Shah Anas Noorani and attended by Professor Shah Faridul Haq, Sahibzada Dr Abul Khair Muhammad Zubair, Qari Muhammad Zawar Bahadur, Allama Muhammad Hasan Haqqani, Muhammad Siddique Rathore, Mufti Muhammad Jan Naeemi and others, by one of the resolutions adopted on the occasion, condemned opening fire on their own countrymen in Balochistan and tribal areas.
Castigating the government for harassing ulema, khateebs and the volunteers who serve in mosques in the name of the Loudspeaker Act and demolishing ancient settlements on islands, the meeting expressed concern at increase in inflation and unemployment.
The party termed the government’s U-turn on Kashmir policy as against the country’s solidarity.
Speaking on the occasion, Allama Anas Noorani said the late Allama Shah Ahmad Noorani through out his life struggled for the enforcement of Nizam-i-Mustafa in the country and they would continue this struggle. He said this struggle was against the anti-Muslim US policies, General Pervez Musharraf and those involved in ridiculing Islam.
Professor Shah Faridul Haq said theopponents of Hudood ordinance were enemies of Islam and the people of would not tolerate promotion of obscenity in Pakistani society.
Other speakers said this government had bent over backwards in its anti-Islam policies only to appease the US. They also criticised the federal education minister and said he was ignorant of even basic knowledge about the Holy Quran.
Meanwhile, the JUP-N Karachi city and towns held a meeting endorsing the strike call. They appealed to the people that as Friday’s strike was purely a religious matter, the people should keep an eye on miscreants and the administration should also realise its responsibility.
