Moviemaker killed in jubilation fire

GUJRANWALA, Dec 12: Aerial firing at the wedding of a youth claimed the life of a moviemaker in Tetley on Tuesday while a guest suffered injuries. Reports said some guests resorted to aerial firing at the Rasm-i-Hina of Iftikhar Ahmad when bullets hit moviemaker Muhammad Nawaz and a guest, Rooman. The former died on way to Mayo hospital, Lahore while the latter suffered injuries.

Police have registered a case against accused Muhammad Yousaf, a relative of groom, and are investigating.

On Monday, four people, including a groom and his father, sustained injuries in a jubilant fire at Mangot Choller (Wahando).

KILLED: Five assailants shot dead gatekeeper of a theatre and injured two others, including its owner, over an old enmity in Sabzi Mandi area on Tuesday.

Reports said Shakeel, Shafiq, Abid along with their two unidentified accomplices tried to storm into the theatre. Nisar alias Mitho intercepted them on which they shot him dead. Later, the accused opened fire on theatre owner Rana Muhammad Anwer and his gunman Saleem, injuring them seriously. The injured were rushed to DHQ hospital.

Police have registered a case.

EXAM DATE EXTENDED: The board of intermediate and secondary education extended the last date for submission of admission forms of private candidates for matric annual examination 2007 with single fee till Dec 13 from Dec 11 through a notification issued here on Tuesday.

BISE secretary Chaudhry Muhammad Anwer said the remaining schedule would stand unchanged. He said admission forms had already been provided to almost all branches of the Habib bank in this regard.
