KARACHI, Dec 12: The additional district and sessions judge, South, Ms Sher Bano Karim, sentenced on Tuesday a man to suffer life imprisonment for killing his wife.
The judge also imposed a fine of Rs50,000 on Mohammed Ayub Mallah, a fisherman, who would have to undergo an additional six-month term in case of default on the payment.
The accused was found guilty of stabbing his wife, Amina Bibi, to death in 1997 in the jurisidiction of Mehmoodabad police station. Mallah, was arrested a few days after the killing of his wife. He was granted bail in 2001. He was taken into custody after the pronouncement of judgment and sent to jail.
ACQUITTED: The Additional District and Sessions Judge Central, Shamim A. Saddozai, acquitted two men accused in a murder case.
The judge exonerated Suleman Pervaiz and Kamran Shafique of the charge of killing Juma alias Shahzad on September 14, 2004. The two accused were acquitted as the prosecution could not prove its case.
