KARACHI, Dec 8: An FIR was registered against legislators and leaders belonging to the Jamaat-i-Islami for the violation of the Loudspeaker Act in Azizabad area here on Friday, making it the second case against the party in less than a month.

A police official told Dawn that FIR 232/2006 was registered under section 3/4 of the Loudspeaker Act against JI city chief Dr Mairajul Huda Siddiqui, Younis Barai, Asadullah Bhutto, Nasurullah Shaji and Muhammad Muslim.

The Jamaat-i-Islami had organised a protest demonstration against the passage of women’s rights bill by parliament. The demonstration was held after the Friday prayers outside the Okhai Memon Masjid in Azizabad.

A similar FIR had been lodged against almost the same leaders on November 24 for organising a similar protest demonstration in Moosalane.
