Pakistan set to host World Junior Circuit TT in 2007

KARACHI, Dec 7: Hosting of World Junior Circuit at Islamabad and participation of their peddlers in a couple of competitions abroad are included in the annual calendar of 2007 drawn by the Pakistan Table Tennis Federation (PTTF).

According to the PTTF, the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) has given the go-ahead to Pakistan’s proposal of hosting the World Junior Circuit at Islamabad from September 4-7.

The PTTF was laying more emphasis on juniors, evident from launch of the National Junior Circuit in the city from January 15-18. The players belonging to second string are expected to feature in the ITTF World Junior Circuit at Bahrain, Doha, UAE, Colombo, and South Korea during the year.The world individual table tennis championship takes place at Zagreb from May 21-27 followed by the Commonwealth Championship slated to be held in India from May 30 to June 5.

The Pakistan team will travel to Yangzhou, China, for participation in the 18th Asian Championship to be held from September 17-23.

The Majeed Khan International Tournament is due to take place in the city in November.
