Top four human smugglers arrested

GUJRANWALA, Nov 20: A raiding party of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) claimed on Monday to have nabbed four human smugglers and recovered passports, stamps and other fake documents from their possession.

Reports said FIA (passport cell) additional director Naeem Akram Bharoka received information that the accused were present at their hideouts. A party, led by inspector Nadim Ashraf, raided Jalalpur Jattan and arrested Raja Abdul Ghaffar. Later his two accomplices Haji Muhammad Boota and Amir Gujjar were also arrested.

Mr Bharoka told this correspondent that the accused were Top-10 human smugglers who had illegally sent a number of people to European countries. He said the government had announced a cash prize of Rs1 million for the arrest of Abdul Ghaffar. The raiding party arrested another human agent Muhammad Ismail from Qila Dedar Singh.

The accused were remanded to FIA custody for three days.

PO ESCAPES ABROAD: A notorious proclaimed offender escaped abroad while the police arrested his two accomplices in a raid here on Monday.

The district police officer said PO Nanha was wanted in a number of cases and managed to escape Spain and he would be arrested through Interpol.

However, the DPO said the police had arrested his three accomplices — Saleem, Ayub But and Malik Jugno. The arrested had confessed that they had been working for Nanha for the last many years.
