Students’ boycott

MUZAFFARABAD, Nov 20: Hundreds of students, registered with the BA programme of the Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU), boycotted the examination on Monday due to what they called rude and abusive behaviour of the staff deputed at the examination centre.

A delegation of students told newsmen that they would launch a protest movement and boycott the remaining papers if action was not taken against the examination staff. They said that the students were forced to solve their Monday’s examination paper in muddy conditions in the quake-hit Jinnah High School Lower Plate where there were no benches or chairs for students.

They said on requesting certain facilities, they were harassed by the examination staff of the Open University’s Regional Head.

They said they also lodged a complaint with Examination Superintendent Ijaz Ahmad, but not to avail. They said after their requests were not paid any heed, they were forced to boycott the paper. They demanded of the authorities concerned to re-organise the examination paper.—Online
