Fishermen stage rally in Badin

By Our Correspondent

BADIN, Nov 20: Hundreds of fishermen staged a rally on Monday demanding that the government abolish contract system for fishing and cancel sale of Sindh’s lands.

Led by local president of Fisher Folk Forum Mohammad Ali Shah, the protesters carrying banners and placards marched from Qatar Masjid to Shah Latif Road.

They were also joined by activists of Sindh Taraqi Passand Party, Awami Tehrik and other nationalist parties.

Mr Shah charged that the government was presenting the fishermen’s villages in Badin as "gift" to waderas and warned that if the government did not accept their demands, they would take to streets.
