ISLAMABAD, Nov 20: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz will inaugurate the third technical conference of the Association of Tax Authorities of Islamic Countries (ATAIC) on Tuesday.

An official announcement said that top tax authorities of 20 Muslim countries were participating in the conference to work out various measures for increasing cooperation in taxation laws and evasion of taxes in their respective countries. The conference is being organised by the Central Board of Revenue.

Salman Nabi, member CBR (direct taxes), said important topics like resource mobilisation through increase in tax-to-GDP ratio and expansion in tax base, promotion of voluntary compliance and tax audit as an effective deterrence for tax compliance and Shariah taxation with particular reference to Zakat would come under discussion.

He said that more than 65 foreign delegates had confirmed their participation.
