LAHORE, Nov 12: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Dr Nasim Ashraf said on Sunday that the board will not take any disciplinary action against fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar for his press statement in which he criticised the biased attitude of the PCB Anti-doping Commission.

Addressing a press conference on Sunday, Dr Nasim said the commission, which slapped a two-year ban on Shoaib Akhtar and one-year on Mohammad Asif on Nov 1 for their positive dope tests, was an independent body and he would not comment on Shoaib's statement.

Shoaib has alleged that the attitude of the commission, headed by Barrister Shahid Humid and including Intikhab Alam and Dr Waqar Ahmad as members was biased and that he would prove his innocence in front of the appeal committee.

Dr Nasim, however, said both Shoaib and Asif were given that chance to prove their innocence before the commission.

"The players were allowed to hire the services of lawyer or doctor to assist them before the commission to prove them innocence," he said.

"Like commission, the Appeal Committee is also an independent body and both Shoaib and Asif are appearing before it with their lawyers, so they have another chance to prove the innocence," he said.
