LAHORE, Nov 12: Prolific middle-order batsman Mohammad Yousuf, who scored his 20th century in the first Test against the West Indies here on Sunday, has called for sporting pitches to be made for making the game more exciting for spectators.

"I have noticed that in the last 12 years, more batting wickets are being prepared for matches which does not give fair chance to the bowlers," Yousuf said while addressing a post-match press conference at the Gaddafi Stadium.

"I will neither demand a grassy pitch nor a flat one, but a strip which supports both the bowlers and the batsmen," said Yousuf, a veteran of 70 Test matches.

He pointed out that in the last few years the only good and sporting pitch he saw was at Brisbane, Australia.

Endorsing the views of West Indies bowler Jermore Taylor, Yousuf said the wicket of Gaddafi Stadium was also batsmen-friendly but added that Corey Collymore bowled at a teasing length and troubled him a number of times.

When asked about some fine bowling performances from Pakistan on the very pitch at Gaddafi Stadium, Yousuf said there was moisture on the pitch on Saturday morning and the home bowlers exploited it pretty well.

Commenting on his fine hundred on Sunday, Yousuf said he would rate his century at Bridge Town against West Indies in 2000 much higher than the one scored on the second day here. He said he would definitely go for a double century on the third day as Pakistan were still in need of a big score to put the opposition under pressure.
