KARACHI, Nov 12: Two persons died in separate road accidents in different parts of the city on Sunday. A five-year-old boy died in a road accident in the Site area on Sunday.

Police said Hameedullah was playing outside his house in Awan Colony, in the limits of the Pirabad police station, when a speeding vehicle knocked him down.

The boy was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

An 18-year-old boy died in a road accident in Gulistan-i-Jauhar on Sunday evening.

Police said the victim was identified as Muhammad Zahid.

Police said the young man, apparently injured in a hit-and-run accident, was rushed to the Jinnah Hospital, where he died during treatment.

DACOITY: The house of the secretary of the Karachi Press Club was robbed on early Saturday morning.

Secretary Najeeb Ahmed said that about seven armed men barged into his house in Model Colony at around 3:45am and took the family members hostage at gunpoint.

The bandits collected Rs10,000, three jewelry sets and six gold bangles and five cellphones. They also went up to the first-floor house, where Najeeb’s sister lives, and took away valuables. A report of the incident was lodged at the Model Colony police station.

Meanwhile, the chief minister on Sunday expressed serious concern over the dacoity in Najeeb Ahmed’s house.

Dr Rahim, who was in Shikarpur, telephoned the CCPO of Karachi to investigate the incident and arrest the culprits at the earliest.
