NAUSHAHRO FEROZE: Ban on TV channel criticised

By Our Correspondent

NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, Nov 12: Journalists and local people took out a procession here on Sunday in protest against the ban slapped by the Pakistan Electronic and Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) on programmes of Sindh TV.

Led by Zahid Rajpar, the participants of the rally demanded withdrawal of the ban on Sindh TV. After marching on different roads, the protesters re-assembled at the press club. The cable operators had stopped airing Sindh TV programmes on the directive of PEMRA. They said that the government action would be resisted by the people.

ALLEGATION: A young woman, Laila Umrani, accused the Dadu police of raiding her Khalid Colony residence at Naushahro Feroze and arresting her father and two other family members at the behest of her husband on Saturday.

Talking to newsmen, Ms Umrani 14, said that she was married to Ali Hassan Umrani, a resident of Changlani village, near Dadu about a year ago.

She complained that after the marriage, her husband used to beat her and bring strangers at home.
